I am taking on new design projects for Spring 2025.
Designed with water conservation in mind. This lawn conversion allowed for several ways to keep water on site instead of flowing down the drain. Low to very low water California native plants were incorporated into these areas.
The driveway was expanded to accommodate a third car using permeable pavers which allow the water to replenish the groundwater below. A dry creek bed is attached to the downspout giving the plants around it an extra drink of water during the winter months.
A low retaining wall was added around the base of the trees that line the side yard. This will help with erosion and gave the opportunity to add plants in the pockets.
A garden refresh was the goal of this property that was in the process of being remodeled. The client wanted a low water and low maintenance yard with an irrigation system for their retirement years.
Plants were added along the fence to give the bedroom views some color. A rain barrel was added to the downspout to capture water for later use. A small fence was added around the newly relocated AC unit.
The client wanted a succulent area that she should play with on her own. Gravel was added to reduce weed growth and make the succulents pop.
The kitchen door had a small landing area and french doors to the right didn't have a landing area.
A small deck was added to the design to bring the area up to code and a bench was added.
Stepping stones were added to give easier access to the area between the garage and the fence. Self watering pots were added along the neighbor's garage wall. These can be moved if the neighbor needs to do any maintenance on the structure. California native plants that tolerate shade were added in front of the window with the addition of mulch.
The back fence has established fruit trees. The goal is to attract pollinators to the trees and provide living mulch below with yarrow and woodland strawberry. Once those are established, there won't be a need to provide additional mulch each year. A picnic bench was added for family activities.
